1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your actions and preferences so you don't have to re-enter them each time you visit.

2.1 Essential cookies

These are required for the site to function. You cannot opt out of them.

• Authentication — Clerk sets cookies to keep you signed in and manage your session securely.
• Payment processing — Stripe sets cookies when you make or receive payments to prevent fraud and complete transactions.
• Preferences — We store UI preferences (e.g. sidebar collapsed state) in local storage.
• Cookie choice — Whether you accepted or declined analytics, kept in local storage so we don't ask again on every page.
• Support sessions — When our support staff open a business's account to help it, a cookie (rs_support_view) records which account they are viewing. It is only ever set in our staff's browsers, expires after an hour, and is never set for customers or businesses.

2.2 Analytics (only with your consent)

These help us understand how visitors use ReserveSpot so we can improve the product. None of them run until you click Accept, and declining stops them.

• Visitor ID — A random ID kept in local storage so a business's booking page statistics can count returning visitors. Without consent, visits are still counted, but under an ID that is forgotten when you leave the page.
• Vercel Analytics — Aggregated page usage statistics.
• Sentry Session Replay — Records a sample of sessions, with all text masked and media blocked, so we can reproduce and fix errors.

3. Third-party cookies

Some cookies are placed by services we rely on. These third parties have their own privacy policies:

• Clerk (authentication) — Privacy Policy
• Stripe (payments) — Privacy Policy
• Vercel (hosting & analytics) — Privacy Policy

4. Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. However, blocking essential cookies will prevent ReserveSpot from functioning properly — you won't be able to sign in or make payments.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer or your browser settings.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
